All three named firms were based in New York City.

Although the purpose of this site is to review the American hard cover editions of Mayne Reid, this publisher did print several Mayne Reid stories in its various dime novel libraries. Munro was mostly known for its Seaside Library. The series of quartos was tremendously popular from its inception in May of 1877. The New York Fireside Companion was also a big seller beginning in 1867. Munro retired in 1893 and his sons continued with the publishing company until 1906.

This firm published several Mayne Reid tales.

In 1868 George Munro published The Creole Forger in No. 125 of "Munro's Ten Cent Novels"

#138 featured Rival Captains; or, The Soldier's Bride and #140 had "Wild Ride: A Romance of Mexico".

In June, 1868 The Star of Empire was printed in serialized form in the Fireside Companion.

In 1885 the Finger of Fate was printed in the Seaside Library.

The "Finger of Fate" was published in #126 of the Majestic Series and #575 of the Seaside Library. These latter dime novels were George Munro’s Sons publications.
