Gebbie and Company, Philadelphia
This company published only one Mayne Reid book. In 1890 it printed
The Naturalist in Siluria. This book apparently was given to Gebbie by
Reid's widow. It was published seven years after Reid's death. The
American copyright was held by Gebbie in 1890. I believe this is the
only American edition.
In 1889 it had been published by an English publisher, Swan Sonnenschein and Company.
The book is not an adventure story but rather a description of local natural scenery.
This is the only Reid book that was published by this company.
