Octoroon (Based on Quadroon)

Mayne Reid’s book Quadroon was loosely adapted for the theater by Dion Boucicault. The play was called Octoroon and it was first performed in New York City at the Winter Garden in 1859. For years it was relatively popular and a number of companies put on theatrical versions in various cities. A version as late as 1961 has been seen.

An Octoroon silent movie was produced in 1913: The White Slave; or, The Octoroon.

Here is a 1901 program from the Castle Square Theatre in Boston.
